Alaska pollock is a marine non – migratory fish. Climate: polar.
Minimum population doubling time is 4.5 - 14 years.
Distribution: North Pacific – Kivalina (Alaska, USA) to the southern Sea of Japan and to Carmel (California, USA). Occurrence off northern Baja (California, USA).
Alaska pollock generally demersal but sometimes appears near the surface. Feeds on fishes and crustaceans, mainly on krill. Spawning individuals are often targeted solely for the roe.
Marketed frozen and processed into fillets, blocks and surimi. Eaten steamed, sauteed or microwaved. Used to make surimi.
